What is bone marrow? Beth yw mêr esgyrn?

I definitely think that what university taught me about cancer and leukaemias lead me down the path of saying yes to giving bone marrow, so some people reading may want to know more about bone marrow and it's function, so here goes - based my degree knowledge and a bit of googling!

Bone Marrow. Mêr esgyrn.

Bone marrow is a tissue found within the long bones, hips, sternum and is essential in immunological responses as this is where B and T cells are made, which fight infection and deal with pathogens! This is also where red blood cells are made which are the cells that carry oxygen around your body, so pretty important!

B cells make antibodies which recognise the pathogen and stimulate T cells to develop and kill the pathogen through various functions.

Dyma lle caiff celloedd B a T eu creu - mae celloedd B yn creu molecylau o'r enw gwrthgyrff, sy'n adnabod pathogenau ac yn stimiwleiddio celloedd T i ladd yr haint.
